I was given a ladies’ pickleball bad to review from Georgie & Lou. Georgie & Lou has been in the pickleball space for a few years. Their bags are known to be stylish and of excellent quality. I can attest to this!
The Dakota Bag
The bag I received is called the Dakota. It is black with a blue stripe and white strap. Each of the classic Georgie & Lou bags is named after one of the owner’s daughters. The Dakota bag is named after Mimi’s youngest daughter who is beautiful on the outside and strong on the inside. The dimensions of this bag are 12″ W x 11″ H x 5″ D, which is a little smaller than their other styles. It weighs 2.2 pounds.
The bag arrived nicely packaged and included a fun bag tag.
Stylish Pickleball Bag
As their website states, Georgie & Lou bags are made with the highest standards of quality. This is noticeable on the bag’s exterior. The fabric has a luxurious leather-like texture that is both lightweight and durable. It also has a solid metal zipper and hardware.
The bag has 4 exterior pockets. One on each side of the bag. The back pocket has a zipper. The front pocket is large enough to hold a pickleball paddle for quick access.
The main compartment has a magnet to hold it closed making it convenient to reach into the bag to find your items. Inside the main compartment, there are 4 additional pockets. Each side has a pocket where you can store pickleballs or a water bottle. The other 2 pockets are large enough to hold items such as a cell phone, wallet, and keys.
The bag is large enough to hold all of your pickleball accessories. The bag is great to take to the pickleball court, but it is also great to use for other occasions. With its stylish features, it can be used as a large purse, a beach bag, a travel bag, or even a small laptop bag.
The Pros and Cons
While this bag has many pros such as quality, stylish look, many pockets, and more, there are a a couple of things to note. The bag doesn’t provide a ton of security for your items. With only 1 zippered pocket and no zipper on the main compartment, it can be difficult to secure your belongings. However, with that being said, the bag provides easy access to your pickleball accessories. So when you’re on the court and need to quickly get to your sunglasses or grab another pickleball, you can easily do that with this bag.
The other “con” is the strap. I was surprised it was cloth and not the same leather-like fabric as the bag. I’m sure there’s a reason why it’s a heavy-duty cloth material, but I’m not aware of it. Maybe it doesn’t wear or fray as quickly as the leather fabric could. Either way, whether it’s cloth or leather, it still works. It just might be different from what you would expect. It is nice that the strap is removable and washable.
